Cascade Writers is pleased to announce we are adding two new speakers to the lineup for the July 25-28, 2013 workshop in Portland, Oregon – Jaym Gates and Jennifer Brozek.  We’re thrilled to have these experienced  writers/editors/game designers join us!

JAYM GATES

Jaym is a freelance publicist, editor and author. Her professional credits include contracts with Paizo Publishing, Prime Books, Scott Sigler, and Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. She has edited two anthologies–Rigor Amortis and Broken Time Blues–with three more in the works. She is currently working on two gaming projects. More information can be found at jaymgates.com (under construction!) or on Twitter as @JaymGates.

JENNIFER BROZEK

Jennifer is an award winning editor, game designer, and author. She has been writing role-playing games and professionally publishing fiction since 2004. With the number of edited anthologies, fiction sales, RPG books, and non-fiction books under her belt, Jennifer is often considered a Renaissance woman, but she prefers to be known as a wordslinger and optimist. Northwest BookFest recap

We shared a booth with an author who, even though I repeatedly told her I was a romance author and had been a romance editor, frequently made insulting comments about romance both to me and to the members of the public who stopped at our booth.  This made the event quite trying for me, as I tried to graciously ignore being insulted for all of Saturday and half of Sunday.  I'll just say that I did not go out of my way to buy the author's books.

The event was not as well-attended as we had hoped, but we met some lovely people and got a chance to say hi to some great NW authors (Louise Marley, Deborah Schneider, Gerri Russell and probably a few others whose names I am not remembering at the moment).

We also sent some flyers about Cascade Writers to Foolscap -- which, by the way, is moving to Feb. 1-3 in 2013.  We've sent some flyers to Rainfurrest and we'll have a fan table at Orycon on Nov. 2-4.  We'll be speaking on some panels at Rustycon on Jan. 18-20, 2013.
